The last few days we have seen the rise and fall of several social media accounts, making allegations on musicians, record labels, and many Indie bands. I can see how many of these new accounts have improved the way they present their allegations, but we also have seen many bad examples, such as the exposing_the_buttertones instagram account or Melissa Brooks' (Aquadolls) Twitter account. Attempting to come forward with an experience of sexual assault is a very difficult thing to do. It is even more so difficult when the oppressor is someone who is a celebrity or a person of power. But recently another type of affliction is threatening the community we adore even more. I am deeply concerned on seeing how this domino effect of fake allegations is already having heavy disturbances on the Indie community. It's been a very tough year for the music industry already to stand with a divided heart. We must support our local bands and fight for justice to happen accordingly. I see this trend of allegations popping up on Twitter from several bands, showing no evidence, where most of them fall on the end of slandering.
